Mouse Polling Rate Test

Swirl your mouse in the pad below in fast, continuous circles. We timestamp every movement report — including the ones your browser batches together — and the smallest gap between reports reveals the rate your mouse is actually delivering.

Swirl your mouse in fast circles here

Big, fast, continuous circles for a few seconds give the best reading. The estimate only ever goes up as faster reports are observed.

A mouse reports its position on a fixed schedule — 125 Hz means a report every 8 ms, 1000 Hz every 1 ms, and recent gaming mice go to 8000 Hz. The difference is motion smoothness and up to ~7 ms of input latency. Like any browser-based measurement this is a proven floor, not a ceiling: browsers batch events to the display's refresh rate, which is why we read the coalesced-event timestamps underneath the batching. Fast circular motion for several seconds gives the best reading; if your gaming mouse reads low, check its software — many ship at 500 Hz by default.
