Space

Why test your spacebar speed?

The spacebar is the biggest key on your keyboard and, in a lot of games, the busiest: it jumps, dashes, flaps, and confirms. Bunny-hopping in shooters, jump-bridging in Minecraft, and most rhythm games all reward fast, precisely timed space presses. A spacebar counter gives that skill a number — total presses divided by seconds — so you can measure progress the same way you would mouse clicking speed.

It's also the quickest way to compare keyboards. Key travel, actuation force, and debounce behavior differ enormously between a laptop membrane board and a mechanical keyboard with light switches, and those differences show up directly in your score. If two keyboards give you wildly different results at the same effort, believe the test.

For higher scores: bounce off the key rather than pressing it fully down — the spacebar only needs to travel to its actuation point, not to the bottom. Many fast pressers use two alternating thumbs or roll their index and middle fingers across the key. Whatever your technique, watch the per-second chart after each run: a flat line beats a fast fade.
